Tell it all.

I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, as you know, O LORD.  I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly. Psalm 40:9-10
This verse grabbed me today in my reading time because of all the statements the Psalmsist makes.

"I proclaim."

"I do not seal my lips."

"I do not hide your righteousness."

"I speak of your faithfulness and salvation."

"I do not conceal your love and your truth."

But how often do we?

Are we always proclaiming God's righteousness to those who need to hear it?  Or do we seal our lips and hide it in our hearts instead because we are afriad of what they will think of us?

Do we speak of His faithfulness and His salvation when we see someone downtrodden?  Or do we conceal them because we're too prideful to open our mouths?

This verse really challenged me today.  How often am I sitting right by a person at a Cub Scout event or at the baseball field, who really needs to hear about God's righteousness, His faithfulness, His love and His truth?  But instead I stuff it down into my heart and keep it to myself.  How selfish of me!

Check this verse out in The Message Bible.
I've preached you to the whole congregation, I've kept back nothing, God—you know that. I didn't keep the news of your ways a secret, didn't keep it to myself. I told it all, how dependable you are, how thorough. I didn't hold back pieces of love and truth for myself alone. I told it all, let the congregation know the whole story.
Wow.  I love how this version says, "I've kept nothing back."

"I didn't keep the news of your ways secret."

I "didn't keep it to myself."

"I told it all, how dependable you are, how thorough."  [LOVE that.]

"I didn't hold back pieces of love and truth for myself alone."

"I told it all."

Can we honestly say the same thing?  God forgive me!  I know I can't.  At least not every day.

Print off The Message version of this verse and post it where you can see it every morning.  Let it challenge you to to tell it all and keep nothing back for ourselves.
